hi beautiful person —
i hope you’re doing so super well, and if you’re not, i hope everything gets better for you soon. remember you’re worthy of being here and always loved, so thank you for showing up every day.
in my district, we had finals this past week, meaning no sleep, stressing ourselves out, studying nonstop, and forgetting to eat and drink water. (i know this is not healthy, but unfortunately, it is what happened!)
anyway, it’s one thing to stress before the exam or project is due. you know, like we want to do well, make ourselves proud, and get the grades we want and deserve as well. this all makes sense.
what doesn’t make sense is stressing about the grade once you’ve already finished it and turned it in. remember you only have control over what you put in, and not the outcome. so if you studied hard, spent the time to review the material over a long period of time, and put in the effort, hopefully you will get the outcome that you deserve.
at the same time though, if you don’t get the grade you want, that. is. okay. too. sometimes life gives us opportunities to do well and sometimes we don’t, and sometimes that’s because of luck, and sometimes it’s because of difficulty. but regardless, one single grade does not define the hours and hours of hard work you put into school or work or an extracurricular.
grades matter only to the extent that they are… oh wait, hmm, i can’t think of anything. anything. grades do not define you. never forget that. if you ever need a reminder, ask yourself the question: “will this grade matter 10 years from now?” if not, then why are you stressing so much? it’s okay.
finals are over, congratulate yourself. i’m so so proud of you and i always am regardless of one letter or number.
love,
apuroopa
